The Rhône region, its wines and their correct wine serving temperatures

The Rhône region is one of the most important wine-producing regions in France, is located in the southern part of the country, and extends from Lyon in the north to Avignon in the south. The region is divided into two main areas: the northern Rhône and the southern Rhône.

The northern Rhône is cooler than the south, and is home to world-famous wines such as Hermitage, Cote Rotie and Crozes Hermitage. The red wines of this region are typically made from the Syrah grape, while the whites are made from Viognier or Marsanne.

The southern Rhône is a warmer climate,  and produces wines such as Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Gigondas. The red wines of this region are typically made from Grenache, while the whites are made from Viognier or Roussanne.

The Rhône region has a long history of viticulture, dating back to the Roman era. Today, the region is home to over 1,000 wineries, and produces some of the most renowned wines in the world. If you're looking to explore the wines of this fascinating region, there's no better place to start than with a glass of Cote Rotie or Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Cheers!
